Tree Bracing and Cabling

Sometimes tree bracing or cabling is a better option than removal.

Tree bracing and cabling are techniques that are used, usually on older or larger trees, to provide structural support for safety, improved appearance, and proper future growth. Rather than removal, sometimes a leaning tree, or a leder (large branch or trunk) or large branch, can be saved by using bracing and/or cabling techniques.

Bracing is used most commonly to support two or more co-dominant leders (trunks) where there is a risk of splitting at the opened crotch.

Cabling is used higher up in the tree crown. Tree cabling supports weaker branches in the crown by cabling them to more stable branch. Sometimes several cables must be used to ensure safety and proper tree structure and appearance - our arborists will recommend the right locations.

We do our tree cabling and bracing differently - better - than most. Most companies are still using the same old methods and tools from past generations: machine threaded rods, washers, nuts, eye bolts (lots of interconnected parts that can fail over time) and wrapping cables, ropes, or belts around leaders and branches which can cut into the tree, cause damage, and inhibit correct growth.

We use a newer and safer cabling system with fewer parts, a cleaner look, and a safer result. Rigguy performance tree cabling components are high-strength, self-tightening cables and bolts that create a permanent, safe, and clean tree cabling job. Follow this link to watch the video.
